End User Licence Agreement

Effective date: 7 September 2026

This agreement is between you and The Bond Lab (Licensor), the publisher of AIDA, for the copy of AIDA you install from the Microsoft Store or from an installer supplied by Licensor. Website: https://aida.thebondlab.net/. Support: support.html.

By installing, copying, or using AIDA you agree to this agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or use the software.

If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, nothing in this agreement takes away rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Rights Directive, or other mandatory consumer law.

1. Website

The AIDA marketing website (including manuals and legal pages) is provided for information about the product. It does not grant you a licence to the desktop software. Use of the website is at your own risk. Do not send document files or other sensitive personal data through ordinary website contact unless Licensor has told you that channel is appropriate for support.

2. Licence, trial, and purchase

Subject to this agreement, Licensor grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use AIDA on computers you own or control, for your own personal or internal business cataloguing and processing of documents.

When AIDA is obtained from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft bills the purchase. The listed price is £9.99 GBP as a one-time purchase (Microsoft may show an equivalent in your local currency). A 7-day fully functional free trial is available through the Store. During the trial you may use every feature of AIDA. When the trial ends, AIDA will stop processing new work until you buy a licence. Your documents and local catalogue remain on your computer.

If you install a copy that is not Store-licensed (for example a sideloaded package supplied for evaluation), AIDA starts a 7-day evaluation on first launch on that computer. That evaluation is not a substitute for a paid Store licence.

You may make a reasonable number of backup copies. You may not:

• rent, lease, sublicense, or publicly redistribute the AIDA application binary except as Licensor expressly allows;
• circumvent the trial or licence check;
• reverse engineer AIDA except where the law gives you a non-waivable right to do so (for example to achieve interoperability);
• remove copyright, licence, or attribution notices;
• use AIDA to provide a hosted document-processing or OCR service to third parties.

Title to AIDA remains with Licensor. Open-source and model components listed in the third-party licence notices remain under their own licences.

3. What AIDA is — and is not

AIDA (Artificial Intelligence–enabled document assistant) helps you catalogue documents stored on your computer: folders, search, OCR, PDF tools, tags, collections, and optional on-device summaries.

AIDA is not a cloud archive, legal-advice product, or identity-verification system. Text extraction, OCR, and summaries can be incomplete or wrong. You must not rely on AIDA as the only copy of important files, or as a substitute for professional legal, tax, or medical advice.

4. On-device processing

AIDA is designed so that your documents, extracted text, tags, collections, thumbnails, and search index are stored and processed on your computer in the application data folder (typically a local SQLite database such as aida.db plus a Tantivy index). Licensor does not operate an AIDA cloud account for this data and does not receive your documents through normal use of the app.

Some features download published files the first time you use them (see the Privacy Policy): Windows installers bundle Tesseract, QPDF, and llama-server. Optional Phi-4-mini model weights are downloaded into app data on first use of summaries.

5. Third-party software and models

AIDA uses open-source libraries and may download published model files (for example Tesseract, QPDF, llama.cpp, and Microsoft Phi-4-mini). Those components are licensed separately. This EULA does not replace those licences.

6. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• backing up your documents and catalogue;
• lawful use of the files you index, including other people’s personal data in those documents;
• keeping the computer and app-data folder secure;
• passwords you apply when encrypting PDFs;
• any optional tools you connect.

7. Updates and support

Licensor may provide updates through the Microsoft Store or by issuing a new installer. Updates may change features. Support is described at https://aida.thebondlab.net/support.html.

8. No warranty

AIDA is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Licensor disclaims all warranties, including satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Licensor does not warrant that search, OCR, PDF tools, or summaries will be accurate or uninterrupted.

If you are a UK or EEA consumer, Licensor still supplies AIDA with the quality, description, and fitness required by mandatory consumer law. That cannot be excluded.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• Licensor is not liable for lost documents, lost catalogue data, inaccurate OCR or summaries, damaged PDFs, business interruption, or indirect or consequential loss;
• Licensor’s total liability for all claims arising out of AIDA is limited to the amount you paid for the copy of AIDA that gave rise to the claim (or £50 if you paid nothing).

This does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Termination

This licence ends if you breach it. You may stop using AIDA at any time. On termination, stop using the software. Your document files remain yours. You may delete the catalogue as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your place of residence where mandatory law so provides.

12. Entire agreement

This EULA, the Privacy Policy, and the third-party licence notices are the terms for AIDA unless you have a separate written contract with Licensor. If a court finds a term unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
